In Star Trek Encounters, you follow the storyline of the Star Trek universe, starting with the crew of the Enterprise NX-01 all the way to the Enterprise NCC-1701 E.  You can collect characters along the way.  Here is the list of characters you can collect.

When you finish a level, you unlock a battlefield.  But if you finish a level at the rank of Admiral, you also unlock a starship which you can use to compete in 2-player modes like BattleFest, HeadToHead, and Onslaught.  You play through the storylines of StarTrek:Enterprise, StarTrek:TheOriginalSeries, Star Trek:TheNextGeneration, StarTrek:DeepSpaceNine, StarTrek:Voyager, and the bonus storyline of StarTrek:TheNextGeneration, which is StarTrek:Sovereign.  View the screenshots in the gallery!
